What is Emotional Intelligence (EQ)?

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the capacity to recognise, utilise, and regulate one's own feelings in order to reduce stress, communicate clearly, sympathise with others, overcome difficulties, and diffuse conflict.

1.   What are emotions for ?

It is with or without heart that one sees rightly what is essential is invisible to the eye.

-       Intelligence can come to nothing when the emotionals hold away.

-       Two minds

a.   One that thinks

b.   One that feels

2.   Rational mind (head)

-       It is a mode of comprehension we are typically conscious of

-       More prominent in awareness, thoughtful, able to ponder and reflect.

3.   Emotional mind :-

 impulsive & Powerful sometimes illogical (heart)

The emotional dichotomy .

#sometime is right “in your heart” is a different order of conviction – somehow a deeper kind of certainty – than thinking so with your rational mind.

There is steady gradient in the ratio of rational to emotional central over the mind.

The more intense the feeling  the more dominant the emotional mind becomes and the more ineffectual the rational.

                     Limbic structures generates feelings of pleasure and sexual desire, the emotions that feeds sexual passion.

But the addition of the neocortex & its connection to the limbic system allowed for the mother child bonds that is the basis of the family unit and the longs term commitment to childrearing that makes human development possible.

Childhood : The window of opportunity

A. Self awaereness: 

they are autonomous & sure of psychological health and tend to have a positive outlook on life.

Their mindfulness helps them manage their emotions

B. Engulfed: 

don’t aware of their feelings

-       They are lost in them rather they having some perspective

-       They do little to try to escape but moods feelongs that they have not control over their emotional life.

-       They often feel overthinking & emotionally out of control.

The basic promise learn about anger is that “ all feelings are okay to have” but some reaction are okay and others  not.

Accepting – clear about what they are feeling.

-       Accepting there mood , so don’t try to change them.

1.   Good mood & so have little motivations to change them.

2.   Doing nothing to change them despite their distress

-       The art of soothing ourselves is a fundamental life skill.

-       Optimism like hope means having strong expectation that in general things will learn act all right in life.

Empathy : 

building on self-awareness  the more open we are to our own emotions the more skilled we will be in reading feeling.

Negotiation solutions :

The talent of the mediator, preventing conflicts or resolving these that flareup

These kids who settle argument on the playing field.

Personal connections:

-       That of empathy & connecting

-       This makes it easy to enter into an encounter or to recognize and respond fittingly to peoples feelings and concerns the art of relationship.

Social analysis:

-       Being able to detect and have insights about people feelings motives and concerns

-       This knowledge of how others feel can lead to an easy intimacy or sence of rapport.
